Saad Jasim (1964, Irak) was jarenlang fotograaf voor een van de Iraakse staatskranten, Al-Djoemhoeria. Zijn kritische instelling leidde tot een dubbelleven, waarbij hij wel lid was van de belangrijke staatsbonden voor journalisten, fotografen en kunstenaars, maar ondertussen ook opdrachten uitvoerde voor de VN-kinderorganisatie Unicef. In 1996 verliet Jasim Irak. Hij bracht zijn negatieven mee naar Nederland. Bij uitgeverij "Servo" verscheen in 2002 zijn fotoboek "1001 Nacht wachten". De foto’s zijn een impressie van de vele vormen van wachten in een asielzoekerscentrum.
Saad Jasim (1964, Iraq) graduated from the academy of Arts in Baghdad as a specialist in graphics and paintings. After academy he exported a large number of exhibitions in Baghdad following by that the steps of his father who was one of the famous press photographers in Iraq. Saad Jasim focusing in his work on the social part of daily Iraqi life, where you can touch and observe the real life details that give a work a reason, meaning and to make it rich in details. In Iraq he worked as a photojournalist and won a lot of prizes for his Art. In 1994-1995 with request from the UNICEF he made two exhibitions about “health of children in Iraq”. On 2002 and after three years of residing in The Netherlands he published his first book “1001 nacht wachten” over photographs and the Art of photography with help of house Servo in Assen-The Netherlands. The photos in the book described the daily life of the refugees in the refugees camps in The Netherlands. The second book he worked on with ASKV organization in The Netherlands since January 2003 was “Nee heb je je kun je niet krijgen” the book was about the illegal people in this country, and it shows the other side of life.
