Mondriaan's shout for joy
animated film – 7,45min
The film "Mondriaan's Shout For Joy" follows a personal and artistic way of Piet Mondriaan epitomized by two of his paintings made within the time span of 40 years.
The story follows an artist visiting an exposition in the gallery ofGKunstliefde in Utrecht, where young Mondriaan was a member from 1893 until 1909. Getting absorbed by an early Mondriaan's work exhibited there the visitor enters the world of the painting tracing in a visual manner Mondriaan’s life and his subsequent artistic development: from his travels of the young age until the pinnacle of his creativity that he reached in the New York. There, his quest is completed and best expressed in the famous “Broadway Boogie Woogie”, that exuberant celebration of life that happened to be his last finished work.
The film also presents an homage to the pianist Albert Ammons, the godfather of boogie-woogie, a great musician and Mondriaan's contemporary from the New York. The film is accompanied by his music, which profoundly inspired late works of Mondiaan.

Memories – work in progress
experimental-documentary film- 4 min
Past is the thing that grows in time and inhabits our memories. Although they appear and vanish in a seemingly random waves and flashes, all of them come from the same source: our innermost being and its movement through time. The video is conceived as a journey through the visual and symbolic impressions in the very roots of the author’s memories that tint her everyday life and feed her artistic imagination.
Returning one winter to the country of her origin, which she has left in the turmoil of the war years before, brings her in a black-and-white landscape of the frozen ground. Reality of her traveling dissolves in warm colors of the long-forgotten memories, and their archetypal intensity reconstructs once again the world that shaped the director’s identity. All those seemingly unrelated and irrelevant details encapsulate the most intimate determinants of one’s personality. Without any dialogues, the music is the sole guide through an emotionally turbulent state of the return to one’s own past. The director uses her own documentary material.
